Permian Basin Gas Plants
An Operator with 22 Gas Plants in the Permian Basin required to bring all pressure vessels into API 510 compliance
The plants ranged in age from new to 30+ years. Many had been through multiple owners and a lot of the original construction data for older plants was missing.
There were 4412 total pressure vessels, 90% were overdue for inspection
The objective was to bring all vessels into API 510 compliance while minimizing the duration of plant outages
The results
Houston Integrity Consultants supplied a team of experienced engineers and technical specialists to perform a Qualitative RBI assessment. The assessment was then modified based on any historical results.
Inspection plans were developed with an emphasis on non-invasive methods. The highest risk equipment was inspected with advanced NDE and the RBI assessment was updated before scheduling any shutdown inspections.
No shutdowns had duration extended for inspection works The RBI assessments and inspection plans and schedules updated after shutdown inspections completed.
